Kindergarten Monet Ponds Students painted an impressionist style background with blue and white tempera. Students then cut out lily pad and flower shapes to place on top of their water. Kindergarten Directed Drawing: Bumblebees Students followed direct drawing instruction from the instructor to draw a bumblebee in conjunction with a spring project. First Grade Calder Sculpture Students began by decorating a piece of construction paper with designs of their choice on both sides. Students then cut and folded the paper to create a freestanding sculpture in the style of Alexander Calder. Second Grade Symmetrical Butterflies Lesson Plan Students used tempera paint to create a mono-print butterfly that was symmetrical. The butterfly was outlined with black oil pastel and given a body with legs and antenna. Color Mixing Caterpillar Students learned basic color mixing by creating their primary and secondary colors onto paper that they then used popsicle sticks to scratch designs into while the paint is wet. When dry they cut the painted swatches into circles that become the body of their very own caterpillar. |
Second Grade Dali Birds Students used crayon to draw long legged birds in the style of Dali's long legged animals then pained over the drawings with tempera. Second Grade Jacob Lawrence Urban Landscapes Students cut out building shapes to create a collage of an urban landscape. They then used markers to fill in details such as people, traffic, etc.

Fourth Grade Mola Students drew an animal that they then traced on larger sheets of colored paper and putting on a black paper background. Students decorated the background with cut shapes of construction paper. Paper Mache Project Example: Ash & Pikachu Paper mache doll made from a soda can and toilet paper tubes. After the paper mache has been applied the doll was painted and given additional decoration though items such as clothing and objects. |
Fifth Grade Cube Project Students worked together as a class to make 4 x 4 x 4 inch cubes from either 1 or 2 in thick paper strips that they then glued together into a sculpture. Fifth Grade Letter Mosaic Students used cut paper to create a mosaic of the first letter of their name. |
